What size shed should you get?

Obviously, the available space will play a significant role in determining the size of the shed you choose. Additionally, you need to consider the shed's intended use and what will be stored in it. If you're planning to use the shed as a garden office or for storing large items like bicycles or lawnmowers, a larger shed will be necessary. If it's primarily going to be used to store garden tools, a smaller shed may be more suitable.

It is important to check all dimensions, including the internal dimensions if you plan to use the building for a particular purpose as well as the external measurements (including the roof overhang) if you need to fit the building into a particular space.

Can I choose where my door and window(s) go?

Yes, as the world’s most adaptable sheds, you can place doors and windows wherever you prefer during assembly. This does not need pre-selecting.

Your shed will come with tried-and-tested instructions and complementary fixings to make building it a doddle.

Do I need a foundation/base for my shed?

Accepted Answer

Yes – all wooden sheds need to go on a firm and level base. This could be a concrete base, paving slab base, timber bearers, or any other suitable base solution which is firm and level.

Are there regulations about where I can place my shed?

Accepted Answer

You can typically place a garden shed without planning permission provided it meets specific criteria. The shed should be no higher than 2.5 metres if within 2 metres of a boundary and not exceed 50% of the garden area. It must also be located behind the principal elevation of your house. Different rules may apply if you live in a listed building or conservation area.

Check with your local planning authority if you’re unsure, especially if you live in a listed building, conservation area, or have specific covenants on your property.
